Drake earned Bachelor degreees in Chemistry and Biology and then a Masters degree in Chemistry at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville where he studied the kinetics and thermodynamics of calmodulin and troponin C. He earned his Ph.D. here in the lab in 2023 and is researching the regulatory mechanisms of mycobacterial transcription.
